Regional Obituary Index Project

Back in 1999, an idea was born through a discussion of tracking obituaries listed in a local Tennessee newspaper. Having looked through a local paper for several years, we realized that there is a lot of genealogy buried into obituaries.

It is sad to think about all the people who pass away on a daily basis, however, it is sadder still for the relatives and friends who don't even know. The concept behind this project initiative is for volunteers to submit basic information from the obituaries listed in their local papers.
